In 2002, Hernando Augusto Román Gómez, a student in the Professional Technician Program in Computer Analysis and Programming at the School of Administration and Marketing of Quindío, began developing the SAHICO 1.0 «Software the Oncological Clinical Records Management System» for Oncólogos del Occidente S.A.
In 2005, Hernando Augusto Román Gómez established a business in the city of Armenia, Quindío, called “Technologies of Western Colombia.” Through this venture, he became affiliated with Parquesoft Quindío, the Software Technology Park, and served as an intern at the National Cancer Institute in Bogotá, Colombia.
In 2006, in partnership with Alexander Londoño Valencia, he began developing the SAHICO 2.0 software, which is now installed in thirty-five (35) oncology units across Colombia. That same year, he graduated as a Systems Engineer from the School of Administration and Marketing of Quindío, in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Colombia. Additionally, he established a business relationship with the Brazilian medical informatics company Mevis to transfer CAT3D planning system images to SAHICO 2.0 software. These images are used for the three-dimensional planning of radiotherapy treatments for cancer patients.
In 2007, TOC participated in the ALFIM Congress (Latin American Association of Medical Physics) in Cartagena and registered the SAHICO software (System for Managing Oncological Clinical Records) with the National Copyright Office of Colombia.
In 2008, Hernando Augusto Román Gómez became certified as a structured cabling installer by SIEMON Company and was invited to visit the company’s facilities in Watertown, Connecticut, United States.
Between 2008 and 2010, he pursued English studies at Malvern House School in London, England.
In 2009, he designed the structured cabling for Centro de Control de Cáncer Ltda. at Clínica del Country in Bogotá, D.C.
In 2010, TOC participated in the ACHO Congress (Colombian Association of Hemato-Oncology) held in Armenia, Quindío. That same year, the company opened its own office, incorporating students from Systems Engineering, Public Accounting, and Professional Nursing programs. This year also marked Hernando’s departure from PARQUESOFT Quindío.
In 2011, Hernando received training on MOSAIQ software, used for radiotherapy treatments in cancer patients, at Elekta’s facilities in São Paulo, Brazil. He was also invited to the MD Anderson Cáncer Center in Houston, Texas, United States. During this time, he registered the trademarks “TOC®” and “SAHICO®” with the Colombian Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, ended his partnership with Alexander Londoño Valencia, and renamed the company «Technologies Of Colombia – TOC» to reflect its global vision.
In 2012, «Technologies Of Colombia – TOC S.A.S.» was officially registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Armenia, Quindío, transitioning from a sole proprietorship to a simplified joint-stock company.
In 2013, the company evolved from a micro-enterprise to a small and medium-sized enterprise (PYME), focusing on developing new technological platforms and expanding its market into high-cost healthcare service providers in Colombia.
In 2014, TOC began developing a new product called SIISA «Integrated Health Information System», using Oracle Application Express as its development framework and Oracle 12c Enterprise Edition as its database engine.
In 2015, the company started implementing the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard and the CMMI Level 3 model for software development.
In 2016, TOC decided to participate in global technology fairs to validate its products in international markets. It attended the Macrorueda de Software y Contenidos Digitales in Toronto (Canada), Hospitalar in São Paulo (Brazil), and the UK TI Mission in London (United Kingdom). London was later selected as the city to expand into in 2019 with the support of the British Embassy.
In 2017, the company achieved CMMI Level 3 certification for software development.
In 2018, TOC launched its new product, SIISA «Integrated Health Information System», under the SaaS (Software as a Service) business model and achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification.
